Immersion Heaters

Industrial grade and temperature controlled heating systems for optimal de-icing fluid performance

Our Immersion Heaters are industrial grade and temperature controlled. Designed to heat SAE Type I aircraft ground de-icing fluids within the sprayer's tank. These heaters can be used indoors or outside. The Handheld unit plugs into a standard 3-prong grounded household outlet, and will heat and maintain the de-icing fluid to a factory-set 120 degrees F. Immersion heaters for the carts maintain a temperature of 140 F and require a special outlet, in which we supply with each purchase.

Insulated Wraps

Essential accessories for maintaining fluid temperature and maximizing deicing efficiency

Insulated wraps play a crucial role in maintaining fluid temperature—especially when you're working in cold conditions and need every minute of heat retention to get the job done efficiently.

Insulated wraps are designed to keep your fluid hot longer giving you more time to de-ice your plane with hot fluid. Each wrap is designed with a custom fit.

Benefits of Insulated Wraps for De-Icing Systems

  • Extended Heat Retention: Keeps de-icing fluid hot longer, reducing reheating cycles and improving operational speed
  • Custom Fit Design: Tailored to specific tank sizes, ensuring maximum insulation coverage
  • Weather-Resistant PVC: Constructed with the toughest materials for durability
  • Energy Efficiency: Reduces the workload on immersion heaters, saving power and minimizing downtime
  • Freeze Protection: Especially vital for Arctic systems, where overnight freeze-ups can be a real risk

Aircraft Ground De-icing / Anti-icing Fluids

FAA approved deicing and anti-icing fluids for professional aviation operations

Type I

Deicing Fluid

Safewing MP I LFD 88

Type I De-icing Fluid is a propylene glycol based de-icing product intended for use during ground de-icing of an aircraft. Sprayed onto the plane frame and wings to help remove the buildup of frozen containments (ice, snow and frost) prior to flight. This helps with aerodynamics to keep the plane flying safely and efficiently. They're typically sprayed hot with a handheld or powered sprayer. Type I Fluids can be used in "single fluid" Deicing / Anti-Icing operations but are usually used in conjunction with Type IV as part of a two-step Deicing / Anti-Icing procedure. Note, however, that they provide no protection against icing in flight.

Specifications

  • Standard: SAE Type I AMS 1424 specifications for aircraft de-icing
  • Base: Propylene Glycol
  • Temperature Range: Suitable for use down to -33°C (-27°F) (LOUT)
  • Application Method: Always applied heated and diluted
  • RTU Formulation: Ready To Use (RTU) is Ratio 55/45 (55% Type I and 45% water)
  • Shelf Life: Can be stored for up to 2 years under proper conditions
  • Properties: Biodegradable, Low foaming, Triazole-free

Packaging Options

  • 5-gallon pails
  • 55-gallon drums
  • Ready to Use (RTU)
  • Concentrate

Enhanced Features

  • Formulation Options: Available in Ready To Use (RTU) or Concentrate formulas
  • Health & Environment: Propylene glycol base to ease health and environmental concerns
  • Environmental Profile: Fully biodegradable additive package, low surfactant content and triazole-free formulation
  • Wetting Properties: Low foaming fluid with excellent wetting properties that entirely covers aircraft surfaces
  • Re-icing Prevention: Comprehensive surface coverage to avoid premature re-icing of already treated surfaces
  • Storage Stability: Can be stored for up to 2 years under proper conditions

Water Quality Guidelines

  • Dilution Compatibility: Tap water may or may not be applicable for diluting Safewing® MP I LFD 88
  • User Responsibility: The decision regarding water compatibility belongs to the end-user
  • Testing Available: Water can be checked by Clariant at any time to assist you in this process

Storage Requirements

  • Storage Containers: Can be stored in a variety of containers, from mild steel tanks to plastic totes (high-density)
  • Storage Conditions: Keep fluid tightly closed and store under proper conditions
  • Tank Inspection: Examine storage and vehicle tanks annually to check for corrosion or contamination
  • Temperature Limits: Do not store at temperatures higher than 90°C for extended periods to prevent glycol decomposition
  • Main Component: Glycol-based fluid is sensitive to over-heating

Safety & Compliance

Important Safety Information:

  • The Pilot-in-command holds the ultimate responsibility to remove all frozen contaminants from critical aircraft surfaces and components
  • The Pilot-in-command must conduct visual and tactile inspection to the aircraft after de-icing/anti-icing procedures and prior to takeoff
  • The Pilot-in-command must ensure that the aircraft is safe for departure
  • Ground de-icing and anti-icing fluids provide no protection against icing in flight
  • The responsibility for the application of the data presented remains with the user
  • A close visual and tactile inspection after deicing and immediately prior to take off is essential to assure that the aircraft is free of frost, ice or snow accumulations
Type IV

Anti-icing Fluid

Safewing MP4 Launch

Type IV Anti-icing fluid is specifically thickened so as to remain on the wing and other aircraft externals, to prevent ice from forming. Type IV products are not used for ice removal but rather protect against the new formation of frozen containments.
